About this Talk

Empathy is an important attribute for those working in our sector, yet regular and continued empathic engagement with clients who have/are experiencing trauma can take a very real physical, spiritual, and mental toll. We can learn to care for ourselves while supporting others.

In this interactive session for frontline staff and managers we will:

  • highlight the realities of compassion fatigue, burnout, and vicarious trauma
  • consider the importance of professional boundaries
  • reflect on professional and personal matters that affect wellbeing at work
  • explore how to practice compassionate empathy safely (for you)
